Les Mills International is a New Zealand company that produces exercise to music group fitness classes distributed to health clubs. The first Les Mills program was called BodyStep, with BodyPump being the first program that was released internationally. Phillip Mills (son of Les Mills) serves as a founder and Chief Executive of Les Mills International. In 1979, Phillip Mills took an increasing role in the Les Mills fitness club business which was founded by his father and mother (Les and Colleen) in 1968. Soon Phillip had taken the fitness club business that his father and mother started and created Les Mills International.
Phillip Mills developed a series of exercise to music workouts that would later become the Les Mills programs in current release. Their success in the Les Mills gyms in New Zealand led Phillip to release them internationally. After a successful debut in Australia, the programs have expanded to more than 14,000 gyms and health clubs in 75 countries, with an estimated 70, 000 Les Mills Instructors worldwide and an estimated 5 million participants every week participating in a Les Mills class.
In 2011 Beachbody and Les Mills International teamed up to develop the exciting "Les Mills Pump" workout, which is an in home version of the popular original Les Mills BodyPump program. "This is the first time people in the U.S will have a chance to sample our group fitness programs at home. Backed by some of the most motivating music ever used on home DVD, and coached by a group of the world’s best trainers, this is a unique way to transform your body and get in shape." said Les Mills C.
